The Butterfly Effect of Being Ruby

I know
that you know
Being Ruby (a.k.a. Julie)
a moon chaser
with a mermaid's heart
dreamer of dreams
teller of tales, big & small
one of those people with a way of looking at her world
that makes me look again at my own

she sent me something a few months back
one of 3 oh so pretty Cathy Penton charms she gave away

I've slipped it on a ribbon, & worn it under the full moon
(I suspect Julie knew I would do that)

someone once mused
that a hurricane starts with a flutter of a butterfly's wing,
turning first into breeze, then winds, then gales

kindness is like that...
what seems like a simple act may not be so simple in the end
it may lift someone's heart at the perfect time

Julie lives a bigger life than me
her sentences boggle me
her photos inspire me

wondering how to thank her...
gazing at her gift to me...
thinking about The Butterfly Effect
about how little things matter so much

& I know what to do
very soon I'll be giving away a few pretty things too

Julie will smile
she's that kind of girl

thank you, dear faraway friend
I hope you dance under the moon tonite!

Oh yes, Ruby is the perfect pen name for Julie, she truly is a gem. How lovely you have written of her and every word so true.

The charms you received are so special, I have a photo she sent me hanging in my studio and it makes me smile and inspires me everyday.

But you also inspire with your written words, always so thought-provoking and conjuring up images in my mind. It is so nice to have you back with us Julia, so nice.

I must say though, that since we're in hurricane season here now, I'm going to be looking at the butterflies in my garden a little differently now.
