"these are my needs" said the bird
"three little meals, a place to rest, the sky to hold me up while I soar"

why do we think we need so much?
that bigger is better?
have we forgotten that more, most often, is just more?
when it comes right down to it, we need what the bird needs
and of course, our health
and the company of those we love
everything else is incidental

16 little pearls:
What a great photo, and I love what you said. We try to teach our children that we are blessed because we have a roof over our heads, food in our bellies, and clothes on our backs. Anything else is extra special.
Blessings,
Marcia
Wonderful close-up, the detail is stunning.
So very very true. With each passing day I feel that even more.
Thank you for such a beautiful post.
Love always,
Kim
What a perfectly fabulous little creature!

Wonderful post! I have been simplifying my life - and the more I do, the happier I am.
Happy day to you,
Zuzu
That's a stunning shot. Perfect words too. The world around me is going mad for "bigger is better"... Cars, houses, possessions. I'm not in this mind set at all thank goodness. The simple life is the perfect life for me and my family. Happiness is the key. Pruxxx
We really don't need all that much. Many of us just think we do. I think I could easily live in about 500 square feet. With a garden of course. I like small and cozy myself. And I'm finding that I don't want as many things as I use to. I learned a long time ago that things do not bring happiness. It comes from within.

Fabulous photo Julia!!! excellent...
I only seem to have the pesty birds in my backyard... magpies... pigeons.. haha.. but have seen a blue wren or two floating and flitting about the complex...
You are so right about needs.. I'm feeling overwhelmed with STUFF right now and plan on downsizing to a manageable level... things will be simpler I'm sure!!
have a great week... my dear friend... xxx Julie
Exquisite photo! I think that dove knows you are it's friend.
I agree. I keep trying to simplify now...but then I go to an
antique shop or thrifting and I see something that makes my heart race and I use the excuse that it's really recycling and there is also a lot to be said for beauty in our homes!!! Excuses, excuses!
But seriously, I am trying to simplify. It's much easier to have less.
I want "smaller" and "less"!!
What a wonderful photo! Your words are also a perfect reminder of what is really important.
OHH - that photo - you are killing me with your fabulous pictures. That little shorebird will soon have a place to rest (when my little shorebird nests debut!)
Thanks for your sweet comment this morning - you absolutely made my day. You were the generous one - not even entering the contest and you took the time to leave a sweet note.
We are off on a bit of travel - dodging hurricanes to go to Bermuda. (Say a little prayer for us!) I will catch up with your beautiful blog when I get back!
Vicki
Oh - I see she is a little dove - I llove doves - they are so gentle and I love to hear their coo - a beautiful photo that is worth of framing my friend!

Soooooo true! My next home (I'm in the process of relocating) will be small. I simply have too much of life to live to spend it caring for "more things, space, clutter, etc".
