 | my name's Bob I'm the guest poster for Drawn to the Sea today.
a couple of weeks ago, I was lost & scruffy looking, struggling & too pooped to fly... panting in the heat & waddling in circles in a nearby yard... calling "help! 'help!"
a lady in a pink shirt scooped me up. despite the multiple holes I made in her hands, she stayed surprisingly calm when I wouldn't let go. so I made bigger holes. suddenly I was swaddled in her pink shirt, & being held well away from her body. she hoped she wouldn't have to explain to a dr. how she got bit "there". |
 | the lady in the pink shirt popped me into a small cage with fresh, cool water (ahhhh!) she tended her bloody hands & left for awhile, returning with a box of seed for my empty tummy. I hisssssed like a snake, & narrowed my eyes, but felt more relaxed & got stronger by the hour.
the people in the house searched bulletin boards & lost pet signs on telephone poles. they read all the local classifieds, called all the vets, searched the net. a couple of unique things about me would be easily identifiable by someone who loved me, but nobody was looking... maybe because I'm really a rattlesnake in a bird suit.
|
 | there were conversations about being responsible for me. a new, larger cage appeared... didn't want to go in, but wow, I could stretch my wings! no one understood when I told them my name, so I became "Bob". |
 | I whistle & warble & yodel (sort of). I squeak like the little white dog. I woof like the little gray dog. I'm trying to say "yooooo hooo" like the lady in the pink shirt. I'm welcome here & am working on my stinker attitude. my new people wonder if I'd be happier living a shorter but free life. but could I survive the heat & feed myself? see that "Paradise" sign in the window behind me? that's not a prop for my photo shoot; it was already there. I'm still biting fingers, but I'm not scared or alone anymore. if my old people show up, I'll have to go back to their place & bite them. but for now, & maybe for always, this is good.
love & hisssssses, Bob |

Hi Bob (and Julia of course), I'm loving your cage. It's totally cool and I bet you didn't have one like that in your old house... Try and chill out and enjoy the hospitality!! Your new family sound like they've had a full-on weekend doing everything for you... You're a lucky guy. Enjoy the ride Bob. Pruxxx
Well you are one gorgeous bird! Just need to be trained not to peck people trying to help you.

Oh, lovely story, Julia! Bob looks like a keeper, all right...he's very well spoken for a bird, isn't he? Good for you braving his outrage to bring him home to safety. I wonder if his previous owners will find him or if he's part of your family now...lucky boy, if he's found his new home!
Thank you for your sweet and thoughtful comments on my posts..they're very much appreciated...:)

Well, Bob, I'm happy the lady in the pink shirt found you. Hope you can work on that attitude a bit though. It's not nice to bite the hand that feeds and waters you.
Well, Bob, I think you are one very lucky little guy. And handsome too.
I love it here - I'll come back to visit again soon!
Hugs,
Zuzu

Bob, you are indeed a lucky duck; oops I meant bird! Just relax and go with the flow, I'm sure you will warm up to all the attention, in time.
Hi Julia, has Bob settled down?? Pruxxx
Bless you for taking care of this beautiful little creature. You are a treasure! Thanks for all your well wishes for my new shop. xx
What a lucky fella! Glad you were able to rescue him Julia. He could not have found more caring hands!
Bob is a bit of a cutie, sad to find little pets lost like that but sure looks like he found a nice new home.
You doll you! For recusing Bob and sharing his story with the rest of us.
Reminds me of the time my daughter's cockatiel got loose in the neighborhood. I ran into her room, where she was playing with a friend and exclaimed, "U2 (yes, named for the band) escaped!" They, of course, thought I was saying "You two" and didn't grasp right away that I was referring to the bird…guess you had to be there, lol.
Hope Bob starts behaving and no longer bites the hand that feeds him!
