Walking in the real world

quietly walk away

from the falseness of the modern day,

there is peace

there is

the real world

hush...

we go,

softly we tiptoe
into the pasture where spirits
dwell

into the glow,
the seaside field

where dragonflies sleep

& rest their wings

& dream
their wonderful

dragonfly dreams

sometimes,

we
are barely present

& yet,
we are
always here

& sometimes...

I wonder

are simpler creatures,
living in the natural world,
perhaps happier than we?

p.s. someone asked... yes, the colors are true

Yesterday I watched as my two granddogs played and romped around the house before they both collapsed on the couch for a midday nap and thought how I wish I could do the same. Maybe not as simple creatures as dragonflies, but I envied how oblivious they are to the real world.

Such beautiful thoughts, Julia. You are a gifted writer...painting pictures for the mind. You inspire me to step away from the day-to-day business and enjoy just being.

Today, it's quiet...a gentle rain is falling, there is a soft roll of thunder in the background, the pups are all snoozing in the sitting room and soft music is playing...It's peaceful...and my mind is overflowing...my fingers itching to pick up a paintbrush. Happiness...

Your blog - your prose - your photos~~ they are mesmerizing. They speak to my soul. We share the same love for the sea and we seem to share the same thoughts as well.

Ah, Julia...this is a wonderful post...just what I needed on a day fraught with delays and petty annoyances! I needed the reminder to just breathe...to let it all go for a moment, and concentrate instead on all that is beautiful and right in my world. Thank you for that...:)

I wonder if the 'simpler creatures' aren't the smarter ones after all - they know better than we do - in that they take things less seriously.
And I have to mention - what beautiful colors in your photographs!

I think we all could be very happy if we lived in the present and were not caught up in million thoughts!

Oh Julia, you always capture the mood so perfectly - your images and words together. I really feel what you're feeling and wonder sometimes where it's all going. You remind me again to slow down and stop and smell the roses. P.S. Thanks for your comments. I'm trying to create a personality for Flotsam Pru up for next years adventure. P.P.S. Our hibiscus is the lightest lemon. It's beautiful. I was thinking of doing a post with flowers soon so will add it when I do! Do you have a hibiscus too. I adore them as they're so old fashion. Maybe not happier in the way we define happy, but maybe contented and uncomplaining.

I love this post.

P.S. did you write the poem on your header? It made me happy and I am memorizing it so I can recite it to our family when I tuck them into bed.

Very beautiful, sis...and wise. Sometimes I don't just want to quietly WALK away from the "falseness of the modern day". I want to RUN, screaming, eyes closed, hands over my ears! Thank you for the reminder to go softly, to tiptoe in. I think that's a much better way to enter into peace. My way scares the dragonflies :)
