we found ~ peace ~ at the mudflats

away from the crowds & the stores... the hustle & bustle of Christmas Eve

it wasn't hot, it wasn't cold
give me a choice, nature always wins
~ so beautiful my heart aches with devotion ~
where do you go to feel quietly alive ?
where do you go to find yourself ?

17 little pearls:
That sounds perfect to me! I would rather be in the serene sounds of nature than at the mall! I am so glad that you got a chance to go there and find peace on a wonderful day! I find myself most at peace by a certain lake in Northern Michigan. I wish I could live there or visit frequently but it is a long drive (which I love driving almost as much as being there) A part of me lives there always and my soul is always at peace when I am there. :) I hope you had a wonderful weekend and Christmas my friend!
Looks like a lovely spot to find peace and serenity. I can almost smell the saltiness of the ocean.
Beautiful Dear Julia
It looks very similar to my little corner of the world.. but at christmas the surrounding park is bedlam and therefore not the quite spot I like..
Hope you had a wonderful christmas.. I look forward to more of your inspiring posts in 2011... xxx Julie
very very beautiful. we spent christmas eve at the beach too :) lovely!
You and I love the same slice of heaven..... mud flats.
As always, beautiful post.
Great photos. So beautiful. I love the flats too. I am surrounded by them in The Keys. So beautiful. I am going to try and take a few photos tomorrow...if it is not too cold. Hope you had a nice Christmas. Peaceful and Joyful. Take care.
You'll find me at the beach, lapping it up like the waves! If it's windy, you'll catch me with a beach umbrella lying on its side as a wind guard :)
Hope you had a lovely Christmas.

Like you, I head to the water to be "quieted". Thankfully, I only have to drive about 6 miles...
We did not head for the mall, but to a family reunion...the 89th to be exact. It was so much fun this year. I'll post about it, soon.
Hugs...and Happy New Year!!!
Jane (artfully graced)
Beautiful photos and a lovely blog! I've been looking around and reading some of your posts and quotes! I am SO drawn to the sea! We live in Florida and the day before Christmas found us at Cedar Key! It was PERFECT! I didn't even care about going in the shops...just walking and seeing the shore birds and dolphins...and breathing the air! ♥
Nice!
Well, I know you know where I go! I wish I were there right now, but I have a cold and the weather is cold, not a good combo for a beachy day.
So, for now, I'll enjoy your photos and find peace in knowing that the beach is waiting for my return.
Happy Beachy New Year, my dear friend, may 2011 bring you lots of peaceful days such as this one was.
XOXOXOXOXOXO
Hi Julia,
It looks so serene there!
We didn't shop - we just spent a quiet Christmas at home in the mountains. Hugs and smiles and good food - it was wonderful!
:)

Oh I love these photos - what a wonderful place to find solace. I love my quiet time - I need it - (don't we all!) I am more at peace when I am at the beach than anyplace -
I am wishing you a wonderful and blessed holday season! Am so looking forward to another year of your beautiful photos and stories!
Vicki
Dropping in for a visit to wish a dear gal a most happy New Year! Thanks for having a blog that inspires and delights my heart! Most dearest wishes for a bright and blessed New Year my friend! <3

I also head for the quiet of the beach. If it's too cold and windy then I go up to a little town in the mountains that is all orange groves and I walk and walk and inhale that sweet scent. Either place is peaceful and "away". I did not shop or go near a mall. I would much prefer a very peaceful Christmas and New Year.
Happy New Year and I wish you many blessings this year.
Hi yes it is good to find nature! also good to declutter, someone on my wavelength. I can't seem to stop downsizing my stuff!!! jennyx
I just found you at Linda's blog sidebar & was drawn to the name of your Blog. I ADORE the Ocean & LOVE things/photos from the sea. Thank you for sharing. I'll be back! Charlene
