![]() | & despite discomfort, glad for everything good & honestly, that's quite a lot isn't it? |
notes to self:
1. when there's nothing worth saying, shut up
2. be grateful for days that remind me to be grateful
.

22 little pearls:
I feel so sorry for the outdoor critters!
Brenda
It took me 42 years but I finally got 1. down I hope.
Great words to live by...
Hope you (and the critters) are not suffering too much with this latest storm. Texas is definitely not prepared for snow and ice! My husband was in Dallas earlier this week and had a terrible time with the ice... he spent 45 minutes trying to get out of a parking lot, only to hit a road with one rutted trail...yikes! He's glad to be home in FL.

I love your notes to yourself, both are very important to live by. I am sorry that it is still cold by you, but waiting for the sunshine to arrive is so worth it, especially when you have so much to be grateful for to fill your time. :)
Have a wonderful weekend and stay safe and warm my friend.
i don't think they feel discomfort? we project.
lovely pictures of twigs and tweets.
Always beautiful shots and prose dear Julia
The birds here are usually quite noisy but even they are missing and quiet today... 42c!!! too hot for birdies...
Your shots are so beautiful.... I can almost imagine the cold..
Have a lovely weekend.. and thanks so much for your friendship and the beautiful posts you share with us... ciao xxxx Julie
Our birds are quiet here with the unusual cold we've got. I miss them. Your photos are gorgeous. Love your notes to self.
Hello Julia... thank you so much for visiting me at my blog today... if you happen upon my "dream" cottage please let me know!... love the birds, and your blog is gorgeous... my first visit here... is that your pink home? Off to read more... xoxo Julie Marie
Ours are quite noisy this week around the bird feeder. Everything is covered in ice and they are so hungry. We can learn much from watching nature. Your photos are beautiful.
Love your #2....so much, in fact...may I borrow your words? I had that grateful kinda day today just because of something I listened to....gonna post about it. You've inspired me!
wonderful thought provoking comment, erin :-))
I know birds migrate for food, that their metabolism adapts, & they ruffle & squat for warmth... (not seen in these grackle pics)
human nature to project human emotions, absolutely! & artistic license on my part doing it, very true.
I do think all creatures are capable of discomfort & distress... in some form, for some reason
& some project their instincts, their way of sorting out the world, onto us as well. my dogs expect me to think as they do & understand how they feel. of that, I'm certain!
The things we can learn from nature! I'm paying very close attention! :)
Wishing you a lovely weekend,
Zuzu
I love the details in your pictures, Julia!! I always enjoy my visits here... sigh...
Happy weekend to you, friend!
~ Jo :)
You have so poetically reminded me that I should
1.) be glad for everything good, despite the discomfort
and
2.) be grateful for days (and friends) that remind me to be grateful
Thanks for the reminder, I needed that today.
Hugs
very true notes to self!!!
and lovely photos:)
Love these photos. Hope the birds are hanging in there. Spring will be here soon. Your words are very thought provoking for me today. Thank you.
I love the quiet in the winter! So much that I'm not sure if I want Spring ans Summer to come..., even though I much prefer the warmer weather. How is that for a conflict!
I love watching birds. And when the winds pick up I always think of them first.
I love the quiet and silent moods that I have every now and then:)
Love your photos.
Positively chilling, poor dears...but they'll be glad they stayed...look at those buds!
It is still frigid here with spring soon to come I know....
At least most of the outdoor animals know nature, have instincts (they can fly south)
Other creatures grow thicker fur coats.

Love that this reminds us that the little creatures suffer quietly- we always put out it's of food for all the creatures in the winter.
We all have so much to be thankful for. You have said it so well- and so beautifully--
Vicki
